Boarding Schools for Learning Disability Students
Students who learn differently often need more support and intervention than their current school setting can offer. There is a huge range in the types of support services and programs that boarding schools can offer a student with learning differences and/or those struggling with ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, non-learning verbal disorders and more. The first step in making the right placement is to obtain a comprehensive picture of the student’s learning style, strengths and weaknesses.
An interview with student (when applicable), family, and school personnel (when necessary), will assist in finding the right level of services and support a student needs and the type of environment in which they have the best chance for success. The most important factor is finding the right match for the student so that he/she has the best possible chance for academic, emotional and personal success. Many students who have struggled in other schools find renewed confidence and self-esteem once they are in a school that understands the way they learn. The goal is to find the setting where the child will be happy, thrive, and make academic progress.
They start to dream about their future again. The right school can change the life of a child. Once a list of schools has been created, we will contact the admissions offices in each of the schools to discuss the student’s application.
We can assist the family in gathering the documents, reports, and records needed for the application. After a placement is made, we remain in touch with the school to monitor the child’s progress and are available for any other needs that may arise.
Of course, throughout the entire process, open and frequent communication with the family is essential.
