Announcing a Return of the Seminar Series for Parents Responsible for Advocating for the Special Needs Child

BOULDER, COLORADO – Friday, January 6, 2012 – Horizon Family Solutions (HFS), announced today that Dore Frances, Ph.D. is re-launching her seminar series entitled– “How to Prepare for a Successful IEP Meeting”,

The seminars will begin in March and focus on enabling parents to build up their self-confidence and develop a positive attitude about themselves as well as how to get off the guilt trip when advocating for your special needs child. Another effective and high quality part of this seminar is that parents will learn how to bridge the parent-professional communication gap.

“This seminar is fun, highly focused and even intense at times. Participants will have the opportunity to not only learn how they can laugh their way to assertiveness, but how to assert themselves in their child’s IEP meeting. Most people feel they can not gain access to ALL of their child's records - they can!” says Dore Frances, Ph.D.

The seminar series is comprised of (7) seven topics and can be held in (2) two (4) four-hour sessions or in one (1) full day session and features – How to escalate your way to services – How to negotiate with Bureaucracies – and family resources for additional information.

Participation in the seminars is open to parents and others who have an interest in learning about Special Education Rights.

For more information about seminars being planned in your area, or to plan or sponsor a seminar for your group, program or school, please email dore@dorefrance.com.
