Treatment modalities widely vary according to each RTC. However, there are certain common characteristics in almost every program. Most programs include both individual and group counseling.
RTC programs treat a wide variety of substance and behavioral health issues.
Some programs specialize in drug and alcohol treatment and include both prescription medications and street drugs.
Other programs also treat behavioral issues, such as sexual addiction and eating disorders. Many programs also offer treatment services for individuals with a dual diagnosis. For individuals who have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, major depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), treatment may initially focus on addressing the mental health component of addiction. Frequently, individuals with mental health issues self medicate as a poor coping mechanism which develops into addiction. Both aspects need to be treated for successful long term rehabilitation.
Some facilities also accept patients for treatment of behavioral health disorders who do not have a chemical addiction. Common behavioral health issues include eating disorders (bulimia, anorexia, binging/purging), chronic depression, anxiety, personality disorders and bipolar disorder. Patients in these programs work closely with professional counselors and staff psychiatrists in their treatment process.
The cost of a RTC varies widely. Many RTC’s provide financing through third-party companies, allowing you to pay a portion of the treatment fee up-front and the balance in monthly payments. Some RTC’s accept insurance payment based on the limits of your health insurance coverage. Almost all recovery programs accept private pay patients. Costs may vary also depending on the type of program.
Some specialized programs, such as those for doctors, pilots and attorneys, require special additional services that increase the cost of treatment. Additionally, many programs that are offered in resort settings may be more expense than those provided in an urban behavioral health center. There are a wide variety of programs available across the country.
